Duck Lake and Canals
Did you know that there is a large 248 acre lake and 23 miles of freshwater canals located on the east side of the Ocean Shores peninsula? Ocean Shores Community Club
Most residential lots in Ocean Shores are part of this private non-profit recreational organization. There is a large clubhouse at the southeast end of the peninsula where you will find a remodeled fitness center, indoor pool, hot tub, indoor basketball court, and game room. Many social activities and events are held there. In addition, there are four parks and two outdoor pools. Member properties have annual dues of $195. History of Ocean Shores
The Ocean Shores 2 mile wide and 6 mile long peninsula was first populated by the Native American Quinault Nation. Captain Gray traded with them when he explored the mouth of the Chehalis river. After white settlement, the area was used as cattle grazing land in the 1800's. Despite it being a cattle ranch, several people were drawn to try and settle there and would be run off the ranch.
